Our Plan for Peace and Justice
Our Plan for Peace and Justice is the core of our healing-centered Social and Emotional Learning culture. The Plan for Peace and Justice is comprised of thirteen commitments that are kept by our entire school community. These commitments build a caring community of accountability. Our shared school values are embedded in the Plan for Peace and Justice guiding our community toward peaceful and just actions and interactions.
Through a reflection and mediation process, the CBCS team spends on average 15-20 hours per week circling with students to build collective empathy, identify positive choices and celebrate successes.
Plan For Peace & Justice
COMMITMENT 1: Be CARING and be engaged in the learning process in our school community.
COMMITMENT 2: Be CARING and CONFIDENT with your words and use positive language.
COMMITMENT 3: Dress CONFIDENTLY and appropriately for school by following the dress code.
COMMITMENT 4: Be COMPETENT in knowing the facts about smoking and do not smoke or use tobacco products in school or on school grounds.
COMMITMENT 5: Be COMPETENT when using the internet or the computer and only use the internet or the computer appropriately.
COMMITMENT 6: Be CONFIDENT in your ability to focus on learning by not using a cell phone or electronic device.
COMMITMENT 7: Be CARING in how you treat our community and take care of our school property.
COMMITMENT 8: Be CONFIDENT in your ability to maintain a peaceful community and refrain from fighting of any kind.
COMMITMENT 9: Be CARING in how you treat our community and do not threaten anyone or cause anyone to feel threatened.
COMMITMENT 10: Be COMPETENT and know the facts about using illegal drugs and alcohol and do not use, give away, share, or sell drugs and/or alcohol of any kind.
COMMITMENT 11: Be CARING in how you treat our community members and DO NOT BULLY, PHYSICALLY OR EMOTIONALLY OR SEXUALLY HARASS ANYONE.
COMMITMENT 12: Be CARING and COMPETENT about the dangers related to weapons and DO NOT BRING WEAPONS OF ANY KIND TO SCHOOL, ON SCHOOL GROUNDS, OR TO ANY SCHOOL RELATED EVENTS.
COMMITMENT 13: Be CARING about our community members and DO NOT ASSAULT ANYONE OR PUT ANYONE IN DANGER OF BEING ASSAULTED OR HURT.
